We welcome an Experienced Arborist Leader who can deconstruct tall or difficult trees.


We are seeking a skilled climber and team leader who doesn’t want to be caged in, and wants to be out in the field of trees!


You must have clean Class 2/HT licence, experienced with driving manual and auto tipper trucks, proficient with chippers, maintenance, able to work in constricted urban settings with excellent rope skills, provide efficient and dedicated work ethics, and ideally be a member of the NZ Arboriculture Association.


About the Role

This role is ideal for an experienced arborist or arborist foreman who enjoys hands-on climbing work, technical urban tree jobs, and leading a small team. You will help plan and deliver safe, professional tree work across the Waikato, mentor junior team members, and take pride in high-standard residential projects.

We are seeking an experienced arborist team leader who can deconstruct trees safely in an urban setting. This role is ideal for a skilled climber who wants to be out in the field, can work independently, and can lead practical tree work while supporting a capable crew. You will also need excellent rope skills, a strong work ethic, and ideally have membership with the NZ Arboriculture Association.

Requirements

As a senior arborist in our team, you will be involved in a diverse range of arboriculture work, including:

• Climbing and aerial tree work.

• Technical removals and reductions.

• Pruning and maintaining trees, palms and hedges.

• Rigging operations.

• Operating and maintaining various tools and equipment.

• Communicating with clients and colleagues.

• Assisting with quoting, job planning and mentoring junior team members.

• You must hold a clean Class 2/HT licence, be confident driving manual and automatic utes and tipper trucks.

• Ideally, you will be mechanically minded and able to manage a large somewhat older but workable tipper truck, bring it up to standard, and keep it maintained.

• You must be proficient with chipper use and chipper maintenance.

• A self-starter who is willing to put in the initial effort to gain long-term rewards.

• A current first aid certificate.

• The ability to work efficiently and professionally.

• A strong work ethic and a positive attitude.

• The willingness to learn, grow and teach.

• A good communicator who knows how to work with others and customers.

• Able to work in difficult urban settings with excellent rope skills.

• A National Level 4 Certificate in Arboriculture or equivalent, or an absolute minimum of three years’ experience in residential tree work.

• Provide efficient and dedicated work, and be a member of the NZ Arboriculture Association.

• Urban tree preservation experience is necessary.

• A strong commitment to Health and Safety is essential. You will be expected to protect the public, your team members, and yourself while working in urban environments, with the goal that everyone returns home safely each day.
